Brief Introduction to Weinan High-tech Zone

Weinan High-tech Zone(also Weinan Economic and Technological Development Zone), established in 1988, is not only a provincial level development area approved by Shaanxi People’s Government, but also an important part of Guanzhong High-tech Industrial Development Belt at State level. To the east is Weinan urban district, to the west Lintong County, to the south Qinling Mountains and Weihe River to the north. An area of 33 square kilometers and two street offices are under its jurisdiction. It has a population of 50,000. The total construction area is 18 square kilometers. At present, 10 square kilometers has completed.

Since the establishment of Weinan High-tech Zone, especially from 2003, the year the secondary development started, with the guiding principal of developing new modern districts interactively with the other zones on the “one-circle & two-belt”, Weinan High-tech Zone has devoted major efforts to improving and perfecting the infrastructure facilities. As a result, the blueprint of the hi-tech zone, which is the establishment of  three roads in length and breadth, one circle road, and six industrial parks which involve in chemical industry, pharmaceutical, mechanics, electronics, agriculture and byproducts processing, and science and education, has turned into reality, the zone has taken shape. 106 enterprises have been built successively with investment of more than 10 billion RMB Yuan. The main economic norms have kept the speed of above 35% increasing for 4 years, and have gone beyond the normal development.

Weinan High-tech Zone will center on three major themes from now on, which are building it with good environment, strengthening it with industries, flourishing it with perfect harmony. It is hoped that by accelerating economic development and building harmony society a total income of 10 billion Yuan in technology, industry and trade, the gross value of industrial output of 7.5 billion and a total output value of 5 billion can be achieved. Weinan High-tech Zone will surly become a new shining star on the “one –circle & two-belt” by 2010.
