Guests and Journalists Conveyed Their Impression of Shaanxi at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation

At the opening ceremony of the Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation held at Beijing National Convention Center in Beijing, journalists with Shaanxi Broadcasting Corporation found at the site interview that Shaanxi Province, as the strategic passage of the Belt and Road, attracted wide media concern.

President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech and mentioned that the ancient Silk Road contributed greatly to communication and cooperation between the countries along the Silk Road and ushered in a new era of human development. The “Gilt Copper Silkworm” collected at Shaanxi History Museum in China and the “Belitung Shipwreck” around the coast of Belitung Island in Indonesia served as the most telling witness to history of the Silk Road.

The Diplomat of the Indonesian Embassy in China said, “I had the chance to visit the Shaanxi History Museum during the Women-20 Meeting held in Xi’an last year. President Xi mentioned the cultural exchanges in antiques between China and Indonesia. In addition to cultural exchanges, we hope that cooperation in other fields such as tourism and trade will be further developed.”

A journalist with South African Satellite TV said that with the raising of the Belt and Road, more and more people from South African begun to attach their attention to Shaanxi. “I’m fond of Shaanxi history and I’ve visited Shaanxi for several times. With implementation of the Belt and Road, I believe that more people will fall in love with Shaanxi”, he said.

The Belt and Road has pushed the inland Shaanxi to the frontier of opening up, making Shaanxi a strategic passage linking the east and the west. The Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation will attract the world’s attention to Shaanxi Province.

The Chief Executive Officer of AAQIUS Group, a member of French delegation said, “As an ancient capital in China and the starting point of the ancient Silk Road, as well as the home town of President Xi Jinping, Shaanxi and Xi’an are important in politics, culture, economy and history in the eyes of Westerners. With a promising future, Shaanxi is one of the most ideal cooperative destinations we are looking for.”
