The State Council Approved Xi’an as an Entry Port for Finished Automobiles

A few days ago, the State Council approved Xi’an as an entry port for finished automobiles, another major function after being approved by it as the first class port, designated port for imported grains and meats. It means that inland automobile import enterprises can shorten their logistics time from 45 days to 15 days, reducing the cost by 10% and increasing their competitiveness.

An entry port of finished automobiles refers to import ports that are entitled to conduct overall business of imported automobiles. Setting up Xi’an as an entry port of finished automobiles on one hand diversifies logistics of importing automobiles and reduces costs on imported automobiles in inland regions, and on the other hand, with China Railway Express, opens new channels for importing automobiles into China’s west regions. Li Yuan, vice mayor and secretary of the Party committee of XITLP, expressed that XITLP will take the opportunity brought about by the entry port to accelerate the building of a comprehensive port in Xi’an. It is learned that the other approved entry ports of finished automobiles include first-tier cities such as Tianjin, Dalian and Shanghai along the eastern coast, and inland cities such as Chongqing and Zhengzhou. The approval of Xi’an in this category shall change the history of Shaanxi clearing customs through other port cities and reduce the consumption cost of imported automobiles.
