Over 1,000 China-Europe freight trains were operated in Xi’an

The China-Europe Freight Train X8001 whistled and drove off from the station. The Completion of Operating over 1,000 Trains in 2018 of China Railway Express (Xi’an) was celebrated in the Xi’an railway container terminal of the Xi’an International Trade & Logistics Park on the afternoon of October 30th.

On November 28th, 2013, the China-Europe Freight Train - “Chang’an” International Freight Train (hereinafter referred to as “Chang’an”) departed from Xi’an; in 2017, 194 trains of “Chang’an” were operated all year round, ranking No. 17 in China; 1,030 trains of the “Chang’an” were launched by October 30th, 2018, with a heavy load rate up to 99.9%, ranking No.1 across China. It also led the country in the freight volume, and the number of total trains operated actually.

According to Sun Yimin, the director of the Administrative Committee of the Xi’an International Trade & Logistics Park, the China-Europe Freight Train (Xi’an-Riga) runs through about 9,000 kilometers to arrive in Riga, the capital of Latvia, carrying about 1,000-ton cargo in 41 containers, mainly including mechanical spare parts, daily necessities, foods and textiles.

As of now, 11 international freight trains of the “Chang’an” have been launched from Xi’an to the five countries in Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan), Teheran of Iran, Hamburg of Germany, Kouvola of Finland, Budapest of Hungary, Malaszewicze of Poland (Warsaw), Ghent of Belgium, Milan of Italy, Minsk of Belarus, Moscow of Russia and Riga of Latvia, effectively connecting the main sourcing destinations in Central Asia and Europe. Next, five trains for domestic trade from Xi’an to Lianyungang, Ningbo, Yiwu and Shenzhen will be further explored and opened, achieving the full coverage of the nationwide sourcing destinations and the construction of a distribution network of the “Chang’an” trains across China.
