The 11th China-Canada Roundtable on Agri-Innovation was held in Yangling

The 11th China-Canada Roundtable on Agri-Innovation was held in Yangling on November 4th. Zhao Gang, the Vice-Governor, and Gilles Saindon, the Undersecretary of the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), attended the conference.

Both parties renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOA) of China-Canada Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Center in arid areas during the conference. It aims to boost technical exchanges, share resources, and realize the agricultural interconnection, complement each other’s advantages and reach win-win cooperation through integrating resources, expanding communication channels and constructing the cooperation platforms.

The roundtable between both parties has been serving as a platform to develop project cooperation since 2006. A series of cooperative platforms like Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation & Cooperation Center and Innovation Incubation Center have been built in Yangling. Besides, the fruitful achievements have also been made on the intensive processing of oats, potatoes and dairy products.

Vice-governor Zhao met with Gilles Saindon before the conference. He said that China and Canada have made frequent exchanges in agricultural science and innovation, and the results that were achieved have been widely applied. It is expected that both parties will expand practical cooperation in more fields, and further promote the development of agricultural science and innovation, thus to jointly compose the new chapter of China-Canada cooperation and development.
