The Third "Belt and Road" International Fashion Week Opens in Xi'an

The third Belt and Road International Fashion Week opening ceremony was held on Jan 12 in Xi'an, with many guests from domestic and international fashion and art circles adding infinite fashion flair to the city in Northwest China’s Shaanxi province.

Sponsored by the China International Cultural Communication Center and the Xi'an Municipal People's government, operated by the Shaanxi International Liaison Department of the China International Cultural Communication Center and supported by the Xi'an High-tech Industrial Development Zone Management Committee, the colorful event was heralded from Jan 9 with six major fashion theme events at various sub-venues and followed by the Fashion Summit Forum and the Fashion Week Awards Ceremony held on Jan 13.

Historically, Xi'an is a world-renowned fashion capital, which has led in world fashion trends. Today, in addition to these characteristic cultural "symbols" known globally, Xi'an is firmly seizing the opportunities presented by national strategies such as central city construction, free trade zone construction, comprehensive innovation reform pilot areas, and independent innovation demonstration areas. It is accelerating its efforts to surpass "ordinary" and achieve excellence, and it is striving to create one more outstanding performance after another.

Lu Jian, member of the standing committee of the Party Xi'an Municipal Committee and executive deputy mayor of the city, said at the opening ceremony that he sincerely hoped that the global fashion elite will work to bring together the cultural industry resources in the countries along the Belt and Road, share new opportunities for development, create international brand fashion activities, and work to create an international fashion brand matrix and an international designer training center in Xi’an.

The Belt and Road International Fashion Week was launched by the China International Cultural Communication Center. Its first session was held on Dec 23-31, 2017 in Guangzhou, Guangdong province in South China, aiming to position the elements and culture of the fashion industry in countries along the Belt and Road to lead the industry’s new trends, and to create for those countries a new platform for fashion exhibition and exchange.
